The holiday season is a time of joy, family, and festivities, but it can also present hidden dangers for our beloved pets. From tempting decorations to rich holiday foods, it’s essential to be proactive in keeping our furry friends safe and sound. That’s why we’ve crafted a 12-day guide to pet safety, ensuring a hazard-free and happy holiday season for your pets.

Day 1: Deck the Halls with Pet-Friendly Decorations

Let’s kick things off by decking the halls with pet-friendly decor. Think non-toxic ornaments that are hung out of reach of pets, secure Christmas trees, and a firm “no” to tinsel – which can be harmful if ingested.

Avoid using decorations like glass baubles or small ornaments that pets could swallow. Choose sturdy, pet-friendly decorations instead. It’s all about creating a winter wonderland that’s safe for your furry explorers.

Day 2: Naughty or Nice? Check Those Treat Labels!

‘Tis the season for treats, and that can include your pets in moderation! Look for goodies with pet-approved ingredients and steer clear of the naughty list, like chocolate and artificial sweeteners.

Day 3: Silent Nights, Cozy Retreats

Everyone needs a break from the holiday hustle, including your pets. Create a snug sanctuary with their favorite bed, toys, and water – a perfect hideaway for when the excitement gets a bit too much.

Day 4: Presents Galore – Keep Them Safe ’til You Explore!

Gifts wrapped in shiny paper may be tempting, but let’s keep them under wraps until it’s time to unwrap. Ribbons and wrapping paper can quickly become choking hazards and ingested wrapping or chewed off bits of gifts can lead to intestinal blockages – a common emergency during the holiday season.

Day 5: Light Up the Night – Pet-Safe and Bright!

If you’re illuminating your home with festive lights, make sure they’re securely fastened and out of reach from our curious critters. Chewed wires can lead to electric shocks, so keep an eye out for those bright-eyed explorers.

Day 6: Share the Love, Not the Scraps!

While you’re savoring your holiday feasts, resist those pleading eyes from your pets. Many human foods can be harmful to our four-legged friends. Stick to their regular diet to avoid any tummy troubles – let’s keep those bellies happy and healthy!

Day 7: Let It Snow – But Avoid Frosty the Cold Pet!

Baby, it’s cold outside! Limit outdoor time for indoor pets, and when they do venture out, make sure they’re bundled up in pet-friendly sweaters or jackets. It’s all about comfort and style!

We want our outdoor buddies to stay warm and toasty during chilly weather, too. Provide insulated shelters and plenty of bedding to create the comfiest spot in town and keep them protected from the cold.

Day 8: The Poinsettia Predicament!

Some plants can be a bit Grinchy to our pets. Poinsettias, holly, and mistletoe are toxic. Choose pet-safe alternatives or pop those potentially harmful plants up high, out of reach from your curious critters.

Day 9: Jingle All the Way – Safely!

Collars with bells? Adorable! Just make sure they’re snug and won’t catch on anything during those enthusiastic holiday zoomies.

Day 10: Candle Catastrophes!

Let’s keep the cozy vibes alive without any paw-some mishaps. Pop those candles up high where our furry friends can’t reach – we wouldn’t want any singed whiskers or wagging tails causing trouble!

Go for the extra cozy factor with flameless candles.  It’s a win-win for setting the mood and keeping the whole fur family safe and sound. Light up the room, not your pet’s curiosity!

Day 11: New Year’s Noise – A Pet’s Foe

Fireworks and loud celebrations can be a bit much for our four-legged friends. Create a quiet and cozy space for them to retreat to during the New Year’s festivities.

Day 12: Reflect, Relax, and Revel in a Safe Season!

As the holiday season comes to a close, take a moment to reflect on the joyous moments shared with your pets…and then make some more!
