Pet
Anesthesia
Some veterinary procedures need to be performed while your pet is under anesthesia so that they will not feel pain and will remain still.
Pre-Anesthetic Testing
The experienced River Oak Vet care team is trained to carefully select, dose, and administer medications and to monitor your pet while they are at the hospital. But a big part of the success of your pet’s anesthetic procedure is up to you.
The Night Before the Procedure
We advise withholding food the night before anesthesia, beginning at midnight, for cats and dogs older than 12 weeks. Your pet may drink water up to the admission time for the surgery. For good hygiene and reduced chances of infection, we recommend that your pet be bathed the day before surgery.
